--> Tradewars Amiga

** In Order To Use This Online Game With Trinity BBS, You Must Be Currently
Running A Registered Trinity BBS Version 1.5a Or Higher **
Here it is! The game so many people have enjoyed on the IBM systems
is now available for the Amiga! After well over a year of off and on
programming, the first release version is now complete! First of all I
would like to thank The Jaguar for letting me program and test the program on
his Amiga. Without him, this game would not be possible!
I have tried to put many features into the game. The game will run on a 1
megabyte system (use 2 color mode to be sure enough bytes are available).
SETTING IT UP FOR THE FIRST TIME
================================
First of all, you need to have your OLP: directory assigned on your
harddrive. You also need the commands "sort" and the archive utility
"lzh" in your assigned C: directory. Make sure you are in the directory
with the other files in this .LZH file and then type:
EXECUTE twsetup.execute
Then just sit back and wait for it to get finished. The first thing you might
notice is that the .execute file didn't delete the three .LZH files that were
copied into the PLAYERS, UNIVERSE, and TEAMS directories. There is a reason for
this. If you ever wanted to restart the game, you will be able to use those
files to get a fresh universe and fresh team and player files by un LZHing
them.
As of now, the program cannot support multi line usage, so set it for
exclusive use. That is about all you need to set it up for the first time.
RESETTING THE GAME
==================
To reset the game all you need to do is go into the players directory and
unLZH the "playerfiles.lzh" file. Then go into the universe directory and
unLZH the "unifiles.lzh" file. Also, while you are in the universe directory,
delete the "fighters" file. That file just contains information about dropped
fighters. Then finally go into the teams directory and unLZH the "teams.lzh"
files.
A NOTE
======
Periodically, you might get the message "Tradewars running under error
conditions!" when you play the game. Just check the file in the
tradewars directory called "errlog" and it will tell you what kind of error,
what line number, and who was playing Tradewars at that time. If possible you
might want to contact me about the error (although I probably eventually will
find out about it...). After you take note of the error, just delete the
"errlog" file and the "Tradewars running..." message will cease.
POSSIBLE ADDITIONS TO THE NEXT VERSIONS
=======================================
o Multi-line support
o A player editor
o New and/or larger universe libraries
o Memory requirement reductions (a must!)
o Sector finder/Autopilot
o Random events
o Actual moving Cabal
o Even more...
I am always open to donations, so send me a few bucks, would ya?
